During November 5-9, 2018, we visited to Miyagi prefecture, Tohoku region where
the tsunami caused by the earthquake (M9) hit on March 11, 2011, and also to Niigata
prefecture, Chubu region where the landslide occurred due to the earthquake with
magnitude 6.8 on October 23, 2004.

After returning from this field trip, I have a more realistic perspective of the tsunamis
and the destructive effects they have been seen along the places where tsunamis
hit Sanriku coastal areas through the recent years but also, the ancient tsunamis
and how people have learnt from the lessons in the past for future generation.
